ROAD
BICYCLES
A Goodrich road bike can be a “racer,” a fun recreational rider,
or just about anything your heart desires but all Goodrich bikes
have steel forks with crowns and fork blades that curve gently
forward. Road bikes have increasingly been designed around
carbon forks that use only short reach brakes and permit very
little tire clearance. Of course, there is nothing wrong with
riding skinny tires and going fast! Many club riders and
recreational riders prefer the elegant, sleek look of “race”
bikes even if they don’t race. But it is just as possible to
design a “fast” bike with a bit more versatility in design. I
will be happy to build a modern short reach brake race bike with
a custom steel fork using whatever lugs you prefer, including
hand-cut and custom designs be they “fancy,” “minimalist,” or
anywhere in-between. You can choose designs as well for short
reach or normal reach calipers, cantilevers, or even centerpulls
(look here for Paul’s new centerpull designs or
here
for the excellent Dia-Compe brakes that Rivendell uses on its
Saluki bicycles). A Goodrich is a road bike that can manage any
sort of road riding and we can discuss all of these choices and
options during our conversation. Pump pegs, chain-hangers, and
other braze-ons are options that are all included in the basic
cost of the frame.
